First Appeal to
Jim Miller

Nevada Medicaid Information

Hello again Mr. Miller,

You probably remember me from about 10 years ago. We were among the first to utilize the provision of NRS 629.091 which gave easier access to homecare services for disabled people. Washoe Medical nurses were the first to sign off the authorizations that allowed me to go home. Unfortunately, the use of the provision is still hampered by misinformation surrounding it. Can you help?

I know this is not the first time you have stepped out of a bureaucratic flow in order to move forward. So, I'm asking you to again look beyond the quagmire that has built around this issue. I believe your objective, unbiased review will compel you to move forward to provide this important service. Please ask the following pertinent questions...

Is Renown Medical eager to pioneer services that will benefit the community?

Will helping disabled people to gain this authorization for their home care services serve the community?

What mechanism is most practical and cost effective to obtain this authorization?

Is it more workable to impose this 45 min.-1 hour task upon a person's doctor or to allow, (as allowed in the law), a homecare nurse to do the simple in-service?

Which will make the service more accessible to those who need it?

There are several other peripheral items that relate to the issue. Please allow me the chance to communicate about these, especially any concerns that might get in the way of moving forward with this service.

Thanking you in advance Mr. Miller,

Rick Cline
